Baseball Game Preview: Economedes Jaguars vs. Sharyland Rattlers

The Economedes Jaguars will be taking part in a tournament against the Sharyland Rattlers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The timing isn't great for Economedes: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Sharyland has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.

It was a proper cat-fight when Economedes duked it out with United South on Friday. Economedes took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of United South. That's two games in a row now that the Jaguars have lost by exactly four runs.

Josiah Villareal made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Even though they lost, Economedes always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Sharyland earned an 8-4 victory over San Benito on Friday.

Carlos Valdez looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (one).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sergio Ibarra, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Edgar Quintanilla was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Sharyland's win bumped their record up to 10-1-2. As for Economedes, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.

Economedes couldn't quite get it done against Sharyland in their previous meeting back in February of 2018 as they fell 6-3. Can Economedes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
