Bishop Miege had already won seven in a row dating back to last season (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Saturday. They walked away with a 60-51 win over the St. Teresa's Academy Stars. That's more bragging rights for the Stags, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Bishop Miege's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kirston Verhulst, who posted 19 points in addition to five assists and three steals. The dominant performance gave Verhulst a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Jayla McClinton, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards.

Bishop Miege's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. As for St. Teresa's Academy, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-1.

Bishop Miege and McPherson will compete for holiday cheer at 3:30 p.m. on December 21st. As for St. Teresa's Academy, they will take on Pine Creek in a tournament on Monday. Pine Creek will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something St. Teresa's Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
