Soccer Recap: Oakland Christian Comes Up Short

Oakland Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Roeper Roughriders. While losing is never fun, Oakland Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan soccer rankings (they are ranked 297th, while Roeper are ranked 64th).

Oakland Christian's goal came courtesy of Timmy Mayer, which was the first he's scored this season.

Oakland Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Roeper, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Oakland Christian is set to square off against their familiar foe Plymouth Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Roeper will face off against rival Lutheran Northwest at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
