The Byers Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Lyons Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Byers will be strutting in after a victory while Lyons will be coming in after a loss.
Byers is headed out to face Lyons after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Byers took their match at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 52-8 win over Rocky Ford. The Bulldogs pushed the score to 46-8 by the end of the third, a deficit the Meloneers had no chance of recovering from.
Byers can attribute much of their success to Kaleb Willoughby, who gained 86 total yards and three touchdowns, and Chase Long, who threw for 164 yards and three touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes. Willoughby got the majority of those yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible57 yards. Aj Engle did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 85 receiving yards.
Lyons kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They were outmatched by Walsenburg on the road and fell 64-36.
