Basketball Game Preview: North Eugene Highlanders vs. Eagle Point Eagles

North Eugene is 8-2 against Eagle Point since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Highlanders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in North Eugene's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.

North Eugene is returning to their home court after beating Churchill on theirs, despite the fact Churchill has dominated at home this season. The Highlanders managed a 61-55 victory over the Lancers on Tuesday. The Highlanders haven't had any issues with the Lancers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

North Eugene found their leader in sophomore Damon Keith, who shot 86% from the field on his way to 15 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Thanks to that strong game, Keith now owns an excellent 45.2% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Jayden Robinson, who went 5-for-8 en route to 13 points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Eagle Point lost 67-44 to Crater on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while the Comets are ranked 45th).

North Eugene's victory bumped their record up to 19-4. As for Eagle Point, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season.

Everything went North Eugene's way against Eagle Point in their previous meeting back in January, as North Eugene made off with a 79-55 win. Will the Highlanders repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
