Baseball Recap: Kalama Comes Up Short

If Kalama was riding high fresh off their 29-13 takedown of Stevenson on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Chinooks fell just short of the Castle Rock Rockets by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Chinooks of the 8-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Kalama saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drew Schlangen, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Kalama has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 14 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games. As for Castle Rock, their record now sits at 11-7-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Rockets beat Kalama by a score of 10-0 later that day.
