Baseball Recap: Lebanon Greyhounds vs. Steeleville Warriors

Lebanon had lost 16 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-11 to make it 17. They lost 8-0 to the Steeleville Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-0 on Tuesday.

Lebanon saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nicky Burger, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

As for Steeleville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games.

On Steeleville's side, Tyler Ingles made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Ingles has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Canon Ruby, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Vallett, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Coming up, Lebanon will face off against New Athens at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Steeleville, they will head out to challenge Marissa/Coulterville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Meteors will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight.
