Basketball Game Preview: Holy Cross Crusaders vs. Mid Valley Spartans

The Holy Cross Crusaders will square off against the Mid Valley Spartans at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Mid Valley took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Holy Cross, who comes in off a win.

Holy Cross took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 69-61 victory over Old Forge. Given the Crusaders' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 87th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Mid Valley suffered their biggest loss since February 1, 2024 on Tuesday. They came up short against Riverside, falling 61-39. The Spartans have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Holy Cross pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points per game. As for Mid Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.

Holy Cross strolled past Mid Valley in their previous matchup on January 6th by a score of 78-62. The rematch might be a little tougher for Holy Cross since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
