Softball Recap: Naples' Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Wednesday

Naples dropped their record down to 6-3 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They fell 5-0 to the Dundee/Bradford Central BraveScots. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Big Green Machines were not able to get on the board.

As for Dundee/Bradford Central, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games.

For Dundee/Bradford Central's part, Morgan Sutryk was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Sutryk has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Korrin Yeoman was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Reese Simpson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Looking ahead, Naples is taking a road trip to challenge Bradford Central at 6:35 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Dundee/Bradford Central, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Penn Yan Academy at 5:00 p.m.
