Recap: First Coast Christian Knights vs. Old Plank Christian Academy Defenders
After flying high against Temple Christian Academy on Friday, the First Coast Christian Knights came back down to earth. First Coast Christian was outmatched by Old Plank Christian Academy on the road and fell 59-13. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points First Coast Christian has scored all season.
Old Plank Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jenna Jiannuzzi out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. Jiannuzzi is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Mia Wilkins was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with five steals.
First Coast Christian's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.8 points per game. As for Old Plank Christian Academy, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.
First Coast Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Impact Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024. After both having extra time off, Old Plank Christian Academy and Covenant School of Jacksonville will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Covenant School of Jacksonville is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
