Basketball Game Preview: Seymour Eagles vs. Cocke County Fighting Cocks

Seymour hasn't had much luck against Cocke County recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Seymour Eagles will face off against the Cocke County Fighting Cocks at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, Seymour made off with a 37-36 win over Anderson County. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Mavericks: they've now won six in a row.

Meanwhile, Cocke County waltzed into their game on Friday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They blew past the Patriots 70-30. The Fighting Cocks pushed the score to 51-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Patriots had little chance of recovering from.

Cocke County's win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 27-6. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points over those games. As for Seymour, their victory bumped their record up to 19-10.

Seymour came up short against Cocke County in their previous matchup back in January, falling 58-48. Can Seymour avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
