Baseball Recap: Orleans Takes a Loss

Orleans started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Borden. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Braves on Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Braves: they've now lost eight in a row.

Dane Freed put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Freed wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nolan Robbins, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Orleans' loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Borden, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Orleans will head out to take on West Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Borden, they will venture away from home to face off against Austin at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Braves are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
