            Basketball Recap: Mater Academy Charter Lions vs. Killian Cougars        
        
		
        
        
            There's no place like home for Mater Academy Charter, who bounced back after a  loss on the road  last Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat the Killian Cougars 73-44. Given the Lions' advantage  in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings  (they are ranked 293rd, while the Cougars are ranked 645th), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.
 Mater Academy Charter's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but  Ethan Davis led the charge by  going 7 for 10  on his way to 15 points. Another player making a difference was  Aheizer Frais, who  went 6 of 7  en route to 13  points and four  steals.
 Despite the loss, Killian still got an impressive performance from   Christian Torres, who  posted 25 points and five  rebounds. That was a full 56.8% of Killian's points, marking the third time in a row he's   earned  more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of  Derico Taylor, who  scored eight  points.
Mater Academy Charter's victory bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Killian, they have also been struggling recently as they've  lost six of their last seven matchups,  which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record  this season.
 Mater Academy Charter has already played their next contest,  a  52-19  win against BridgePrep Village Green on the 27th. As for Killian, they are taking a road trip to  face off against Varela  at 7:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Killian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.4  points per game  this season.
