Basketball Game Preview: Fort Morgan Mustangs vs. Weld Central Rebels

The Fort Morgan Mustangs will head out to challenge the Weld Central Rebels at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Fort Morgan is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against University on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Mustangs were outmatched by the Bulldogs and fell 51-7. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Weld Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They took their matchup on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 46-16 win over Valley. The victory was some much needed relief for the Rebels as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

The win was their first at home, bumping their record up to 2-8. As for Fort Morgan, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Fort Morgan came out on top in a nail-biter against Weld Central when the teams last played back in February of 2025, sneaking past 41-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
