Softball Recap: Central a & M Starts off Right with Win over Argenta-Oreana

Central A & M gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 win over the Argenta-Oreana Bombers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Raiders have posted since April 15, 2024.

Gwyn Hardimon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered eight earned (and three unearned) runs on 14 hits and racked up 12 Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Central A & M got a massive performance out of Kayla McPeek, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave McPeek a new career-high. Sophie Roe was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 3-for-5.

Central A & M is headed away from home for the first time to take on Heyworth at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Argenta-Oreana has already played their next matchup (against Williamsville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
