Baseball Recap: Raymond Comes Up Short

After flying high against McComb last Tuesday, Raymond came back down to earth. Raymond lost 12-6 to Richland on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for Raymond in their meetings with Richland: they've now lost nine in a row.

Raymond saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carlton Davis, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Davis is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Tyler Scott also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Raymond's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Richland, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season.

Raymond will be playing at home against Quitman at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Richland, they will head out to square off against Pelahatchie at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Rangers are facing the Chiefs at the right time seeing as the Chiefs are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
