Basketball Game Preview: Brush Beetdiggers vs. Wray Eagles

The Brush Beetdiggers will take on the Wray Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wray took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Brush, who comes in off a win.

Brush will head into Friday's matchup on the come-up: they were handed a 41-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 37-34 victory over Yuma. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Beetdiggers have posted since January 4, 2024.

Brush's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alex Hass led the charge by putting up nine points. Those nine points gave Hass a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Michelle Headley, who posted five points and 19 boards.

Brush smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 20 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Wray played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 61-36 to Resurrection Christian. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while the Cougars are ranked 27th).

Wray's loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Brush, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
