The Mundelein Mustangs will face off against the Jacobs Golden Eagles at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Mundelein is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Mundelein got the win against Waukegan by a conclusive 17-2. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Mundelein got a massive performance out of Kieley Tomas, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Courtney, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Mundelein always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April.
Meanwhile, Jacobs hadn't done well against Antioch recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Golden Eagles had just enough and edged out the Sequoits 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Golden Eagles have posted since April 29th.
Taylor Schweet looked comfortable as she pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Avarie Lohrmann, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Audrey Wetzel, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.
Jacobs' victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 17-16. As for Mundelein, their win bumped their record up to 18-8.
