Baseball Recap: West Rowan Victorious

After losing to North Iredell the last time they met, West Rowan decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Falcons came out on top against the Raiders by a score of 9-5 on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.

Cole Blevins was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for West Rowan: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Luke Ponczka, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

West Rowan's record now sits at 18-5. As for North Iredell, their loss dropped their record down to 5-17.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. West Rowan will challenge Salisbury at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons are facing the Hornets at the right time seeing as the Hornets are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for North Iredell, they will face off against Statesville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Greyhounds have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.79 runs per game on average), something the Raiders will no doubt try to take advantage of.
