Basketball Game Preview: California Grizzlies vs. Monte Vista Mustangs

California is 2-8 against Monte Vista since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The California Grizzlies will face off against the Monte Vista Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in California's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests.

On Tuesday, California needed a bit of extra time to put away Dublin. They pulled ahead with a 61-60 photo finish over the Gaels.

California's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brayde Kuykendall, who posted 23 points. DANE WALLACE was another key player, putting up 21 points.

Meanwhile, Monte Vista hadn't done well against Granada recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Monte Vista walked away with a 68-58 victory over Granada. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Mustangs considering their 30-point performance the matchup before.

Monte Vista has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for California, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-2.

California might still be hurting after the 80-54 defeat they got from Monte Vista in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can California avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
