Ridge Point has gone a perfect 8-0 against Fort Bend Austin recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ridge Point has nine straight victories, Fort Bend Austin has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Ridge Point is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Fort Bend Hightower: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Panthers blew the Hurricanes out of the water with a 44-6 final score. Aiden Akins had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 135 yards and a pair of scores on only 12 carries. Those 135 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Ridge Point also got help from Bailen George, who showed off his sure hands for 90 receiving yards.
Ridge Point's run defense was locked in: Fort Bend Hightower could only muster 3.3 yards per carry. The team can thank Dyllon Bennett for the heroic effort on defense: he. Ridge Point didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 12.8.
Ridge Point's defense didn't let Khylan Davis, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for 4.5 sacks. Romaire Smith refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Ridge Point received some extra help from Austin Lee, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, Fort Bend Austin scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 76-71 to Fort Bend Bush. The Bulldogs gained 157 more yards on the day, but it was the Broncos that made the best use of them.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Koen Herrmann and Jamir Young. Young had a great game and rushed for 148 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries. Meanwhile, Herrmann was balling out in the loss, throwing for 414 yards and six TDs while completing 73.9% of his passes, and also rushing for 89 yards on only 11 carries.
Ridge Point's win bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Fort Bend Austin, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Everything came up roses for Ridge Point against Fort Bend Austin in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 60-22 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Bulldogs' Chrishun Fitch, who picked up 141 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
