Softball Recap: Carbondale Area Triumphs

Carbondale Area's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Mountain View Eagles. The Chargers haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Alyssa Lewis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 12 Ks.

On the hitting side, Riley Pietrowski was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. Abagail Carachilo was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Carbondale Area kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-7. As for Mountain View, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Looking ahead, Mountain View will face off against MMI Preparatory School at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. MMI Preparatory School has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.75 runs per game on average), something Mountain View will no doubt try to take advantage of. Carbondale Area will be paying especially close attention to the Eagles' contest: after the Eagles face off against Elk Lake, they'll take on Carbondale Area again at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
