Baseball Game Preview: John Bapst Memorial Crusaders vs. Waterville Panthers

The John Bapst Memorial Crusaders will head out to take on the Waterville Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for John Bapst Memorial's offense. They lost 14-0 to Ellsworth on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Waterville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They skirted past Gardiner 6-5. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

Derek Couture was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Milo Taylor also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Waterville now has a winning record of 3-2. As for John Bapst Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

John Bapst Memorial couldn't quite finish off Waterville in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 and fell 6-4. Can the Crusaders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
