Volleyball Recap: Clovis Falls Short Against Ranked Santa Cruz

Clovis faced Santa Cruz in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Cougars fell 2-0 to the Cardinals. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Cougars were not able to get on the board.

Justin Moua paced Clovis' offense, picking up seven kills. Moua got some help from Aiden Insyarath and his 19 assists. Finally, Ethan Tofan kept Clovis' defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

This is the second loss in a row for Clovis and nudges their season record down to 24-3. As for Santa Cruz, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 25-2.

Coincidentally, Clovis and Santa Cruz will both be playing Bellarmine College Prep the next time they take the court. The Cougars will head out to face the Bells at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Cardinals will play them later in the day, at 1:00 p.m.
