Softball Game Preview: Katella Knights vs. Calvary Chapel Eagles

The Katella Knights will square off against the Calvary Chapel Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Katella is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

Katella gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over Laguna Hills. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.

Krystal Barrios was a standout: she scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jozie Guerra, who scored a run and stole four bases while going 1-for-2.

Katella always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They are 4-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Calvary Chapel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Capistrano Valley Christian, falling 12-5.

Bella Bos made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Riley Small was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Katella's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Calvary Chapel, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.

Katella skirted past Calvary Chapel 6-4 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
