Softball Game Preview: Griffith Panthers vs. Highland Trojans

Griffith is 0-10 against Highland since April of 2017 but things could change on Wednesday. The Panthers will welcome the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Griffith is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.

Griffith took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Hebron, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Hawks 3-2.

Brylie Bridges spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Highland was a bit more limited in their matchup on Monday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Illiana Christian. The loss continues a trend for the Trojans in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost three in a row.

Highland saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa Niemann, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Griffith pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Highland, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-10.
