Basketball Recap: Ben Bartolovic's Big Game Can't Quite Lead St. Joseph over Monessen

St. Joseph was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 68-47 to the Monessen Greyhounds. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 590th, while the Greyhounds are ranked 261st).

St. Joseph lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ben Bartolovic, who posted 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan McCarthy, who earned 12 points.

St. Joseph now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Monessen, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.

St. Joseph wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 76-29 loss against Neighborhood Academy on the 13th. As for Monessen, they will square off against Geibel Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Geibel Catholic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.8 points per game this season.
