Preview: North Stanly Comets vs. T.W. Andrews Red Raiders
The North Stanly Comets will be playing at home against the T.W. Andrews Red Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
After a string of four wins, North Stanly's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 14-7 to Albemarle. The low total for North Stanly limited their streak of high-flying scores to four in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Chance Blake, who rushed for 20 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, T.W. Andrews put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past McMichael 48-13 on the road. The win was just what T.W. Andrews needed coming off of a 55-7 defeat in their prior matchup.
Correy Mcmanus jr. got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 313 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 carries. Another player making a difference was Devin Hackstall, who rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries.
North Stanly's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for T.W. Andrews, their victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-4.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. North Stanly has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 231.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like T.W. Andrews struggles in that department as they've been averaging 186.1 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
