Fairfax hasn't had much luck against Lake Braddock recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Lions will face off against the Bruins at 6:30 p.m.
On Wednesday, Fairfax came up short against Woodson and fell 4-1.
Avery Adler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
Meanwhile, Lake Braddock came tearing into Wednesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They beat the Wolverines by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 9-2. The result was nothing new for the Bruins, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Lake Braddock got a massive performance out of Addison Forde, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. What's more, Forde posted three hits, the most she's had since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Radha Samuel, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Lake Braddock pushed their record up to 15-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Fairfax, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Fairfax has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lake Braddock struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Fairfax might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Lake Braddock in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
