Baseball Recap: Nelson County Governors vs. Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy Ospreys
Nelson County extended their losing streak to seven on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-15. They fell 4-0 to the Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy Ospreys. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Ospreys this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 back in April.
Nelson County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jamison Craig, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
As for Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games.
On Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy's side, Robert Roberson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. Cayden Montgomery was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Coming up, Nelson County will be playing in front of their home fans against Prince Edward County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.57 runs per game on average), something the Governors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
