Baseball Recap: Tonopah Comes Up Short

Tonopah extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 15-8 in the process. They came up short against the Pahranagat Valley Panthers, falling 14-1. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 19-2 loss last Friday.

As for Pahranagat Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. The result was nothing new for Pahranagat Valley, who have now won 12 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Pahranagat Valley's part, Keadin (CJ) Christian made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Christian has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two triples and two runs. Those two triples gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Colin Howard and Flint Higbee did most of the damage at the plate: Howard went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Higbee went 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave Higbee a new career-high. Trevor Thiriot was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Tonopah does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pahranagat Valley, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 4-3 loss against Liberty Baptist Academy on the 9th.
