Baseball Recap: Mundelein Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Mundelein came out on top against Lake Zurich on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 9-3 win. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Mundelein got a great performance from Baris Brua as he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and only one walk). Those nine strikeouts gave Brua a new career-high.

At the plate, Caden Earing was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Brandon Marano, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles.

The victory (which was Mundelein's fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-5-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Zurich, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-9.

Mundelein will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bears: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
