Preview: Drew vs. Northgate Vikings
Drew will stay at home for another game and welcome the Northgate Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around on Tuesday.
Drew suffered their biggest loss since November 20, 2023 on Friday. They took a serious blow against Harris County, falling 56-7. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Drew has scored all season.
Northgate lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Saturday was a bit more commanding. They were outmatched by Creekside at home and fell 64-35. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Northgate in their matchups with Creekside: they've now lost three in a row.
Northgate's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Randria Wilcher, who scored 18 points along with two blocks, and DeAsia Stinson who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Wilcher posted two or more blocks. Holly Metz was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds.
Drew's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-13. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.0 points per game. As for Northgate, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6.
