Basketball Recap: Mcclave Piles Up the Points Against Eads

McClave won the last time they faced Eads and things went their way on Thursday too. The McClave Cardinals simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Eads Eagles 58-23. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 28 points or more this season.

Leading McClave to victory were Ethan Bronniman and Tuff Kelley. Bronniman went 6 of 9 on his way to 16 points and three steals, while Kelley went 6 of 9 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Bronniman a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jr. Mungaray, who posted six points and six rebounds.

McClave was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eads only racked up four assists.

Despite the loss, Eads had strong showings from Stockton Mitchek, who had 12 points along with eight boards and three steals, and Case Nelson, who put up six points. Nelson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played.

The victory made it two in a row for McClave and bumps their season record up to 3-1. As for Eads, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-3.

McClave will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Eads at 4:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025. As for Eads, they and Springfield will face off at 10:30 a.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played.
