Baseball Game Preview: St. Clair Saints vs. Grosse Pointe South Blue Devils

For the second straight game, St. Clair will face off against Grosse Pointe South. The Saints will be playing in front of their home fans against the Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

St. Clair fell victim to Grosse Pointe South and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Blue Devils, falling 12-0. The Saints' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

For Grosse Pointe South's part, Jack Danielewicz tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave Danielewicz a new career-high.

At the plate, Adam Czarnik was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Hess, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Grosse Pointe South hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in eight consecutive games.

Grosse Pointe South's victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for St. Clair, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-3.
