Baseball Recap: Gloucester Extends Winning Streak to Three

Gloucester entered their tilt with Phoebus on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Phantoms get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The Dukes not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 20th (when they won 12-0).

Gloucester got a great performance from Brayden Scott as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave Scott a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Gloucester let Hayden Simmons and Colter Callis run wild. Simmons went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Callis went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Simmons has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Tyler Hawkey, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Gloucester hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive matches.

Gloucester's record now sits at 12-4. As for Phoebus, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.

Gloucester will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Phantoms: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
