Basketball Game Preview: KIPP Legacy Lions vs. Phalen Leadership Academy Falcon

The KIPP Legacy Lions will face off against the Phalen Leadership Academy Falcon at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

KIPP Legacy picked up another tournament win back in December of 2024. They walked away with a 70-59 victory over Northside L.

KIPP Legacy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Shalon Robinson out in front who went 9 for 14 on his way to 22 points in addition to eight assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jahmere Evans, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 24 points.

Meanwhile, Phalen Leadership Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. The match between them and Richmond didn't end well, with Phalen Leadership Academy falling 76-62.

KIPP Legacy will have to contain Zinan Taylor as he made an impact in Phalen Leadership Academy's last game. He posted 26 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Davion Robinson, who had eight points and nine rebounds.

KIPP Legacy's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Phalen Leadership Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: KIPP Legacy has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Phalen Leadership Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.4 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
