Baseball Recap: Richard Find Success

Richard's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Lincoln Park Railsplitters 12-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pioneers have posted since May 21, 2024.

Cal Frump made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up six earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jake Szczechowski and Aiden Valatka did most of the damage at the plate: Szczechowski went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Valatka went 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Those two hits gave Szczechowski a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryan Crosson, who went 1-for-4 with two runs.

Richard was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Richard's record now sits at 2-13-1. As for Lincoln Park, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-20.

Coming up, Richard will square off against Grosse Ile at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lincoln Park, they will challenge Woodhaven at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
