Basketball Recap: Cunningham Drops Highest Score of Season Against Reno County Homeschool

Cunningham scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 52-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Reno County HomeSchool Sabres.

Despite the defeat, Cunningham saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Rylee Miller went 5 for 11 on her way to 15 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave Miller a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie McGuire, who posted 11 points.

Even though they lost, Cunningham was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Cunningham's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Reno County HomeSchool, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

Cunningham and Argonia will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cunningham has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Reno County HomeSchool, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 52-43 victory against Fairfield/Cunningham on the 13th.
