Basketball Recap: Loranger Comes Up Short

Loranger had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 1-6 to make it eight. They were dealt a 73-37 defeat at the hands of the Independence Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 248th, while the Tigers are ranked 65th).

As for Independence, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 12-1. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 33 points or more this season.

Independence's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jayden Anderson, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 15 boards. The game was Anderson's third in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Derrick Dupard, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Loranger won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Ponchatoula at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Independence will take on Kentwood in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
