St. James Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Lansing Lions 2-1. The Thunder haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Mya Lee paced St. James Academy's offense, picking up 14 kills. Lee got some help from Ellen Dorsey and her 31 assists. Abigail May controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

St. James Academy has already played their next match, a 2-1 win against St. Michael the Archangel on the 2nd. As for Lansing, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-1 victory against Shawnee Mission Northwest on the 2nd.
