A Season-Best Performance from Teiyon Halbasch Leads Layton over Syracuse

On Thursday, Layton had to settle for second even though Teiyon Halbasch put up the best numbers he has all season. Halbasch picked up 307 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He torched the secondary when he pulled down a catch that went for 80 yards.

Layton is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5. They and Weber are set to duel on Wednesday.

Travis Hoopes was instrumental in extending Farmington's winning streak to three on Thursday. Hoopes did his part (and then some), rushing for 145 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry for the 'W'. He is becoming a predictor of Farmington's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is 3-1 (and 1-4 when he doesn't).

Farmington has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season. Hoopes and Farmington will square off against Fremont at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

The victory (which was Fremont's seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-2. Simkins' next contest is against Farmington on Wednesday, where he'll look to repeat that solid performance.

Bode Sparrow continued his hot streak on Thursday by dropping his third-straight game (dating back to last season) with at least 101 receiving yards. He picked up 109 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Davis is 5-1 when Sparrow posts 100 or more receiving yards, but 1-2 otherwise.

Davis' defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-3. Sparrow and Davis will venture away from home to face off against Syracuse at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
