The Whitney Wildcats will take on the Rocklin Thunder at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Whitney sitting on three straight wins and Rocklin on seven.
Whitney is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Woodcreek with a sharp 7-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 11 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Taylor Cordell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.
On the hitting side, Tylie Kitchen was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Bri Seffens, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Rocklin ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Vacaville 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Thunder have posted since March 26th.
Rocklin also let their pitcher toss all eight innings and she was also dialed-in: Payton Prior gave up five earned runs on ten hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Katie Wetteland, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Addie Titlow was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs.
Rocklin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vacaville only posted a batting average of .300.
Rocklin pushed their record up to 22-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Whitney, their win bumped their record up to 22-9.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Whitney hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. However, it's not like Rocklin struggles in that department as they've averaged .325. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Whitney might still be hurting after the 14-3 loss they got from Rocklin when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
