Baseball Recap: Lackawanna Steelers vs. City Honors Centaurs
Lackawanna had lost four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 1-3 to make it five. They lost 14-0 to the City Honors Centaurs. The Steelers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Centaurs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2018.
As for City Honors, the win keeps they at an undefeated 6-0. Considering they have won four matchups by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
For City Honors' part, Lackawanna's batters probably weren't too happy with Julius Petti, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 15 Ks (he gave up a single walk). With that strong performance, Petti is now averaging an impressive 6.4 strikeouts per game.
On the hitting side, Pavel Schneiderman was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Leichtnam, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Coming up, Lackawanna will square off against Cleveland Hill at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for City Honors, they will face off against Math Science Tech Prep at Seneca at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
