Volleyball Recap: Carter G. Woodson Comes Up Short

Carter G. Woodson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Winston Salem Christian Lions, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on September 11th.

The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-6, 25-11.

Winston Salem Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Marcela Fernandes, who had nine kills, eight aces, three digs, and one block. Fernandes is crushing it when it comes to kills: she's had at least five every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Dora Montiero-Victor, who had eight aces and four digs.

Carter G. Woodson's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Winston Salem Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-10 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Carter G. Woodson will take on Quality Education Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Winston Salem Christian, they will head out to take on High Point Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
