Recap: Garden Grove Argonauts vs. Godinez Fundamental Grizzlies
The Garden Grove Argonauts's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They fell to Godinez Fundamental 58-52. While losing is never fun, Garden Grove can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1006th, while Godinez Fundamental is ranked 401st).
Garden Grove's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Juarez, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Drue Anzai, who scored 14 points.
Garden Grove bumped their record down to 8-15 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Godinez Fundamental, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.
Garden Grove will be playing at home against Westminster at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Westminster knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Garden Grove likes a good challenge. As for Godinez Fundamental, they will head out on the road to challenge Segerstrom at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Segerstrom and Godinez Fundamental are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
