Johnston and Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since June of 2016, but likely not for long. The Dragons will be playing at home against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Johnston will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Johnston proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by six) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Ankeny Centennial 13-12. Meanwhile, Valley faced Pleasant Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Tigers fell 6-2 to the Spartans. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by exactly four runs.

Johnston's victory bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-11 record this season.

Johnston was able to grind out a solid win over Valley in their previous matchup on June 3rd, winning 6-1. Do the Dragons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
