Downey Christian hadn't done well against Potter's House Christian recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Downey Christian Patriots walked away with a 71-59 victory over the Potter's House Christian Lions. The win was familiar territory for the Patriots, who have now won seven contests in a row.

Downey Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Maylon Marte out in front who went 11-for-16 on his way to 25 points and six boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Marte has scored at least a third of Downey Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Patrick Olajuwon, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds.

Downey Christian pushed their record up to 19-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Potter's House Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-14.

Looking ahead, Downey Christian will challenge Academy of Central Florida National at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Potter's House Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
