Volleyball Recap: Williamsburg Blue Pirates vs. Mount Union Trojans
Williamsburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Mount Union Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in August.
Williamsburg couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Mount Union a tough time in the third set. The final score came out to 25-23, 14-25, 31-29, 25-18.
Despite the defeat, Williamsburg saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kylie Simpson had 25 digs.
Mount Union's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lily Hicks, who had 12 digs and three aces. Hicks has been hot, having also posted 14 or more assists the last seven times she's played. Tenly Huffnagle was another key player, getting 19 kills and 11 digs.
Williamsburg's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Mount Union, their record is now 8-10-1.
Williamsburg has already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Curwensville on the 13th. As for Mount Union, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Moshannon Valley on the 13th.
