Baseball Recap: North Baltimore Takes a Loss

North Baltimore was the 10-6 winner over Ridgemont when they last played one another back in April of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Tigers took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Gophers on Tuesday. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Zander South was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over 5.1 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because North Baltimore is 3-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 2-5 otherwise. South was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season.

South wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Sesok, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Zech Boyd-Reyes also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

North Baltimore now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Ridgemont, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-4-1.

Looking ahead, North Baltimore will venture away from home to face off against Leipsic at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ridgemont, they will take on Allen East at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Golden Gophers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season.
